剛剛早上想到跟你們分享一些跟錢有關的俚語slang (現在聽到東西都想馬上記下來寫到多益跟聊天課的講義裡,誰來救救我的強迫症)

1. look like a million bucks
當有人跟妳說「hey妳今天長的像一百萬美金」,表示他覺得妳今天美炸了!(通常用來形容女性,用於需要精心打扮的場合)
(in a wedding)
Wow, Emma! you look like a million bucks this evening. I love your dress!

2. as genuine as a three-dollar bill
當你說「這跟三塊美金一樣真」,代表說某個東西、或某件事是假的。因為美國沒有印三元鈔票啊!
This contract is genuine as a three-dollar bill—there's no way they're offering us this much money without some sort of catch.

3. cost/ pay an arm and a leg
當你說「這東西花了我一隻手臂跟一隻腿」,表示這東西貴桑桑
We want to redecorate the living room, but I’m afraid it’s going to cost us an arm and a leg.

4. live from hand to mouth
當你說「我從手住到嘴」,代表手頭沒有多餘的錢,賺的僅供餬口
His father earned very little and there were five kids, so they lived from hand to mouth.

5. Midas touch
當你說「你有麥得斯國王的手(觸碰)」,代表賺錢很容易的意思,這個片語源自於希臘神話麥得斯國王的故事,麥得斯國王意外獲得點石成金的能力,並把身邊的東西都變成黃金!
Jasmine really has the Midas touch. Every business she starts becomes very successful.
